Islamabad, 16 Apr 2025: PlayStation 5 Price adjustments are once again making headlines as Sony has officially announced an increase in PS5 retail rates across Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, citing mounting financial pressures, soaring inflation, and unstable currency exchange rates.

This move marks the second global price revision since the console’s original launch, following the initial hike introduced back in 2022.

In this latest adjustment, the PlayStation 5 Price for the Digital Edition in Europe has climbed to €499.99, previously set at €449.99.

Meanwhile, the version equipped with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive now retails for €549.99, reflecting a similar surge. In contrast, pricing for the PS5 disc edition console remains untouched.

In the United Kingdom, the PS5 Digital Edition now bears a new tag of £429.99, rising from £389.99. However, the model with a disc drive holds firm at £479.99 without any alterations.

This pricing strategy suggests Sony is opting for selective increases rather than uniform adjustments across all product versions.

Down under in Australia, the optical disc version of the PS5 has been bumped to AUD 829.95, from its prior AUD 799.95.

Notably, the Digital Edition’s price remains unchanged. A similar trend follows in New Zealand, where the disc variant will now cost NZD 949.95, previously marked at NZD 899.95, while the Digital version holds steady.

What’s Happening with PS5 Pro?

Interestingly, the PS5 Pro will retain its current pricing. Alongside this, Sony has introduced a reduction in the price of the detachable Disc Drive accessory, now available at €79.99/£69.99/AUD 124.95/NZD 139.95, making it slightly more accessible for budget-focused gamers.

These revisions underline how global inflationary trends continue to impact consumer electronics.

Sony also hinted that similar pricing policies might extend to other markets, including a potential increase in the United States. Whether fans will accept these shifts or delay purchases remains to be seen.
