Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that Aiden Markram is fit for selection ahead of the crucial semi-final match against New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Markram, who had experienced discomfort in his hamstring during the final group-stage match against England on Saturday, had walked off the field as a precaution.
He was serving as stand-in captain in the absence of regular skipper Temba Bavuma. During his absence, wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen assumed leadership duties.
The injury update was confirmed by commentators, and CSA responded promptly by calling up spin-bowling all-rounder George Linde as a precautionary cover.
However, CSA has now reported that Markram has passed his fitness test and is available for selection for second semi-final clash at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
South Africa, having remained unbeaten in the group stage of mega event, secured their spot in the semi-finals with a solid performance.
They began the ongoing marquee tournament with a dominant 107-run victory over Afghanistan, before a rain-affected match against Australia.
Their final group-stage match against England sealed their semi-final berth with a convincing seven-wicket win, while chasing down a total of 180 runs.
