Islamabad, Aug 13, 2025: The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has officially announced that the planned SSGC gas suspension in Karachi’s District West on August 14 has been called off, ensuring residents and industries enjoy uninterrupted supply during the Independence Day holiday.
Earlier, SSGC had issued a notification about a shutdown scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in multiple neighborhoods, including Haroonabad SITE Area, Sher Shah, SITE, Jehanabad, Mianwali Colony, Lashari Mohalla, Metroville, Bawani Chali, Pathan Colony, Old Golimar, Rexer Colony, Hasan Oliya, and Muslimabad.
The affected list also covered major industrial hubs such as SITE Industrial Area, Gulbai, Mauripur, Tikri Village, and Muslim Colony.
The temporary SSGC gas suspension was initially meant to facilitate the relocation of a gas pipeline following a request from the Karachi Water Board. However, the pipeline restoration program has now been delayed, removing the need for the shutdown.

According to an SSGC spokesperson, cancelling the planned suspension was aimed at ensuring consumers receive a consistent gas supply on this national holiday. “The earlier statement issued on Tuesday should now be regarded as withdrawn,” the spokesperson confirmed, marking the end of the planned SSGC gas suspension.
