Islamabad, 21 May, 2025: Starlink is expected to reshape Pakistan’s digital landscape, as discussions between the country’s diplomatic delegation and senior executives at SpaceX progressed during a recent visit to the company’s headquarters in Los Angeles.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, along with Consul General Asim Ali Khan and consulate staff, explored potential areas of collaboration with the American aerospace giant.

Starlink executives, including the Vice President of Global Business Operations and Director of Global Business Development, welcomed the delegation and shared insights into their low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite internet system.

Talks focused on how the technology could extend broadband access to Pakistan’s remote and underserved regions, helping to reduce the digital divide.

Ambassador Sheikh reiterated Islamabad’s focus on innovation-led growth and expressed optimism that this dialogue could lead to future cooperation in digital infrastructure, commercial ventures, and space-based technology.

Starlink may officially launch in Pakistan later this year. Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja recently confirmed that the regulatory process is nearing completion.

She informed a National Assembly committee that once licensing is finalized, the installation of necessary ground equipment would begin, with services likely to roll out by November 2025.

In a major step forward, Pakistan granted Starlink temporary registration earlier in March, signaling readiness for the company’s entry into the local market.

With a vast population of freelancers and growing digital demand, Pakistan stands to gain substantially from Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency connectivity.

The satellite internet service could become a game-changer, particularly for remote areas lacking traditional infrastructure.
