The Punjab Traffic Police has introduced strict measures to ensure transparency in driving license issuance. According to DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir, from now on, cameras at driving license testing centers will remain active at all times and no license will be issued without proper video proof.
Earlier, the video backup system at testing centers was limited to 15 days which often made it difficult to act against irregularities and complaints. However, the backup of all videos will now be stored for a lifetime and directly linked to the Safe Cities data center.
DIG Waqas Nazir added that this move will end the culture of recommendations, bribes, human bias and untrained drivers will no longer be able to obtain licenses.

To further improve transparency and curb malpractice, a new artificial intelligence system will be launched this month to monitor driving tests. Cars equipped with cameras and sensors will automatically detect mistakes during the test.
Officials believe that this upgrade will not only increase the number of properly licensed drivers but also make it easier to take action against unlicensed and unqualified individuals.
