A new controversy has surfaced after an embarrassing error was spotted in the Ninth Class Computer Science textbook (Urdu), published by the Punjab Curriculum, Training, and Assessment Authority (PECTA). The word “Mouse” which is a basic computer device, has been translated literally as “Chooha” (rat).
Teachers and students have expressed frustration, saying the mistake has created confusion in classrooms. According to teachers, such mistranslations not only disrupt lessons but also weaken students basic understanding of technical subjects.
Teachers further point out that this is not the first time such blunders have been found in textbooks. They warn that repeated errors can damage the learning process, especially in science and technology-related subjects.

Earlier, another serious mistake was highlighted when the picture of India’s Red Fort (Delhi Lal Qila) was mistakenly printed in the First Year Chemistry textbook instead of Lahore Shahi Qila. An inquiry was announced at that time, but even after three months, no disciplinary action was taken against those responsible.
