The Sindh government has extended the summer holiday for all schools in the province to August 14 in response to the current weather.
The summer break will now last until August 14 according to a statement from the Sindh Education Department. Consequently, all public and private schools will stay closed, with the start of the new school year set for August 15.
In light of the heat wave and anticipated monsoon rains, “the summer vacation[s] are hereby extended in all public and private institutions under the administrative control of the School Education & Literacy Department until 14 August 2024,” the notice stated.
Because of the intense heat and anticipated monsoon rains, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, the provincial minister of education, chose to prolong the summer holiday. He said that on August 14, schools would host activities in honor of Independence Day.
