Islamabad, May 23, 2025: In response to the soaring temperatures across the country, the federal government has declared summer vacations for all schools and colleges operating under its authority. According to an official notice issued on Monday, the vacation period will start from June 5 and continue until August 1.

To safeguard students and staff from the intensifying heatwave, the government has also adjusted school hours starting May 26, with new timings set from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM until the break begins. This proactive move comes amid rising concerns from parents and health experts over the impact of extreme heat on children.

A senior official from the education ministry stated, “The safety and health of our children are the government’s top priority. This decision aligns with meteorological warnings and health advisories.”

Comparatively, provinces such as Punjab and Sindh have also initiated early summer schedules due to similar weather conditions, indicating a nationwide shift in academic planning caused by climate changes. Health experts have praised the move, citing risks like dehydration, heatstroke, and exhaustion among students exposed to high temperatures during school hours.
