Islamabad, July 21, 2025: DC’s Superman reboot rockets past $400 million globally, outshining expectations and setting the stage for a new era in the DC Universe.
James Gunn’s Superman is proving to be a huge success at the global box office, collecting over approximately $406.8 million worldwide in just under two weeks. After an impressive $122 million domestic opening weekend, it is DC’s third biggest debut of the year. The film held its ground in its second weekend with $57.3 million, bringing its North American total to $235 million.
Despite a slightly weaker international response compared to its U.S. reception, the global numbers have already surpassed the lifetime grosses of Man of Steel and Superman Returns. Overseas collections currently sit around $171–172 million but Gunn has addressed this gap, noting that Superman remains more iconic in American pop culture than in many international markets.

Superman was produced with a large combined budget of approximately $400 million including marketing and is tracking toward margin as it approaches the break-even point near $500 million. Trade analysts estimate the film needs to cross $700 million to be declared a major blockbuster, a mark that now looks within reach.

The movie’s performance places it as the third-highest grossing DC title of the decade so far, behind only Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and The Batman. Its success also strengthens the prospects for the next installments in Gunn’s Gods and Monsters chapter of the DC Universe, including the highly anticipated Supergirl and Clayface projects slated for 2026.
With little competition until the release of Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps and Jurassic World Rebirth, Superman is expected to continue its dominant run. For now, the Man of Steel has once again proven his box office might, bringing hope not only to city hub but to DC fans worldwide.
