Islamabad, Aug 13 2025: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has notified the Supreme Court Rules 2025 by an S.R.O. No. of August 6, 2025, under Article 191 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. These new standards which have been released in the Extraordinary Gazette on August 9, 2025 are in force as soon as they are published where they are replacing the Supreme Court Rules of 1980.
One of the many highlights of the Supreme Court Rules 2025 is the revised court fee chart which comes into effect on August 6, 2025. The new fees include those of different categories, to wit Civil Petitions for Leave to Appeal (CPLA) and Civil Appeals whose new fee is Rs. 2,500 each. The fee of Constitution Petition is also Rs. 2,500 whereas Civil Reviews are of Rs. 1,250. The Security Challan is also remarkably high to the tune of Rs. 50,000.
Other categories include: Intra Court Appeals Rs. 5,000, Power of Attorney Rs. 500, Caveat Rs. 500, Concise Statement Rs. 500, Enter Appearance Rs. 100, Affidavits Rs. 500 each, Applications Rs. 100 each and Annexure Rs. 100 each. Those changes will seek to create a harmonized and transparent court process and collection of fees.

The Supreme Court Rules 2025 will ease the burden at the court through the introduction of a modernized fee structure and a more transparent system that can be easily understood by the layman in an effort to eliminate the 1980 rules that date back several decades.
The change is also anticipated to improve the efficiency of the procedure and give litigants a clear understanding of the charges that they are supposed to pay before taking any legal action.
