Islamabad, Sep 7: According to the most recent data available from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), Pakistan’s shipments of frozen orange juice to China during the January–July 2024 period reached previously unheard-of levels, demonstrating the expanding demand for Pakistani produce in the Chinese market.
Ghulam Qadir, Commercial Counselor at the Pakistan Embassy in China, told China Economic Net that the two countries’ free trade agreements and the combined efforts of the Pakistani government and exporters to broaden and diversify their international markets are to blame for the export boom. He continued by saying that Pakistani farmers now have a great chance to take advantage of China’s expanding demand for healthy, high-quality fruits and liquids.
Fruit juices and other associated products were sent to China for about $1.546 million between January and July of 2024, a 226% increase over the same period the previous year. Commodity code 20091100 for frozen orange juice exceeded $1.54 million. Fresh mangoes from Pakistan are becoming more and more popular in the Chinese market; in the first seven months, Chinese businesses bought 4,214 kg of mangoes. However, this year, the Chinese leadership and businesses also received Pakistani mangoes as a present from the Prime Minister of Pakistan,” he continued.
Wei Ling Chen, Regional Director of Direct Access Chinese Enterprise, told CEN that her company imported three to five tons of mangoes from Pakistan this year. Prior to confirming the importation of Pakistani mangoes to China, MERAPC Solutions carried out extensive research and discovered that Pakistan, the country where mangoes originated, boasts over 300 different varieties.
The primary characteristics of Pakistani mangoes, according to her, are their inherent sweetness and pure mango flavor. She added that they provide quality circulation, product packing, and other services. The operations of picking in the orchard, heat treatment and packing, cold chain to Pakistan airport, air transport to China, and free shipping by SF Express in China were all under their observation, she continued.
