Islamabad, Mar 27, 2025: Pakistan is taking significant steps to modernize its automotive industry by promoting ethanol fuel, ensuring vehicle engine compatibility, and increasing the use of locally manufactured auto components.
These strategies were deliberated in a meeting between Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, and Hiroshi Kawamura, CEO of Pak Suzuki.
During the discussion, Haroon Akhtar Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions, including bio-gas and electric mobility initiatives.
He highlighted that Pakistan and Japan have substantial potential to collaborate on green energy projects, opening doors for industrial expansion in both countries.

As per an official statement, Pak Suzuki’s proposal to set up a biogas facility in Manga Mandi, located near Lahore, was highly appreciated for its role in supporting Pakistan’s renewable energy ambitions.
Haroon Akhtar Khan stressed that Pakistan remains a vital market for Pak Suzuki and encouraged the continuation of strong partnerships within the auto sector.
This discussion aligns with the government’s “Uraan” initiative, which focuses on the transition to environmentally friendly automobiles.
The meeting also marked another milestone in reinforcing industrial ties between Pakistan and Japan.
However, expressing confidence in future collaboration, Hiroshi Kawamura congratulated Haroon Akhtar Khan on assuming his new responsibilities and emphasized the shared vision of advancing economic and technological progress between the two nations.
