The Suzuki Motor Corporation revealed its intention to give priority to tiny batteries and lightweight body structures for its vehicles including electric models across a range of markets. Compact and lightweight vehicles greatly lower CO2 emissions during use and production, the Japanese automaker noted, contributing to resource conservation and CO2 reduction. Suzuki’s technology roadmap for the next ten years includes this tactic.
Suzuki intends to achieve this aim by reducing the weight of its compact Alto hatchback by 15 percent over the course of the next ten years, with a target weight reduction of 100 kg from the vehicle’s current 680 kg. Suzuki’s models should become less expensive due to the smaller motors and batteries that result from these weight reductions.
In order to reduce traffic congestion, Suzuki is also creating advanced driver assistance technologies and software. Along with minimizing energy usage, the manufacturer also hopes to develop an economical solution for software-defined vehicles (SDV) that combines wired and wireless (OTA) technologies to make software upgrades easy to use.
In 2023, Suzuki debuted the highly efficient Z12E engine, which prioritized better combustion. The corporation wants to employ this engine more often throughout the world and use next-generation hybrids and carbon-neutral fuels to cut down on energy use.
Suzuki also intends to use a circular economy strategy to get low energy use. This entails creating items that are simple to disassemble, recycle, and use again in order to conserve resources. Along with reusing software and sharing hardware, the corporation will save component and development expenses.
