Islamabad, June 26, 2025: Flash floods, triggered by two days of relentless heavy rainfall, have devastated parts of Swat. It claimed the lives of at least 11 people, with several more still reported missing.

The continuous downpour in Swat has led to a significant and dangerous rise in the Swat River’s flow, prompting local authorities to issue a high alert across the region.

Rescue teams are tirelessly working across multiple affected locations. So far, two bodies have been recovered from Fiza Gat, where 10 tourists, including women and children, were tragically swept away by the raging floodwaters.

At the Bypass location, a harrowing incident saw 17 people drown, though rescue efforts managed to retrieve four bodies and save three individuals.

Additionally, a house roof collapse in Khwazakhela, caused by the heavy rains, resulted in the tragic death ofa 7-year-old Zuneina.

Rescue operations are also actively underway in other flood-affected areas such as Ghaligai, Manyar, and Panjigram, where several people have been successfully pulled to safety from the rapidly rising waters.

In a separate incident in Mardan, 22 individuals who were trapped in Imam Dheri by flash floods have all been safely rescued. Further operations in areas like Mettah, where 20 to 30 people were stranded, also successfully evacuated all individuals.

Authorities continue to urge residents near the Swat River to evacuate immediately, as water levels remain dangerously high. Rescue teams remain dedicated to their critical mission, despite the challenging and fast-moving floodwaters.
