Islamabad, JULY29: A number of flights at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport were canceled due to operational and technical problems.The flights ER-504 and ER-524 operated by Serene Air between Karachi and Islamabad and Lahore, respectively, were canceled. In addition, the private airline canceled its ER-522 trip from Karachi to Lahore.
The following PIA flights were canceled: PK-306 from Karachi to Lahore, PK-241 from Karachi to Dammam, and PK-310 from Karachi to Quetta. In addition, the Fly Jinnah flight 9P852 from Quetta to Karachi was canceled.
In unrelated news, four travelers were detained by the Immigration Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at Jinnah International Airport in two different operations for possessing fake visas.
Three of the four passengers who were detained, according to the FIA spokeswoman, had phony visas for Guinea, while the fourth passenger had arrived from Iraq with a forged visa.Abdul Jabbar, Muhammad Asghar, and Muhammad Javed, the three people who were arrested, allegedly paid large amounts of money to an agency in order to obtain fictitious visas. Daniyal, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan, was able to avoid going to the Iraqi consulate by paying an agent Rs. 250,000 for his Iraqi visa.
