Islamabad, Aug 28: It appears that Chinese phone manufacturers are vying to release new concepts for tri-folding phones. While Xiaomi and Huawei are getting ready to reveal their updates, Tecno has already unexpectedly unveiled the Phantom Ultimate 2. It comes after the Phantom Ultimate, a rollable phone prototype from the previous year.
Its stunning 10-inch expandable screen, this trifold phone can rival full-sized tablets in size. The phone’s screen measures 6.48 inches when fully folded. When unfolded, it becomes a 10-inch 4:3 aspect ratio LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1,620 x 2,880 pixels. The Phantom Ultimate 2 blurs the distinctions between smartphones, tiny tablets, and even full-sized tablets thanks to its large screen.
According to the manufacturer, this is the first foldable phone to use TDDI technology, which integrates the touch sensor and display driver onto a single chip. The phone’s self-developed dual hinge mechanism and cutting-edge technologies enable it to maintain an incredibly thin profile it is only 11 mm thick when folded. Tecno claims to have tested this complex hinge mechanism to 300,000 folds. In addition, the brand created an incredibly thin battery cover that measures only 0.25mm, which adds to the phone’s elegant appearance. One more of the Phantom Ultimate 2’s special characteristics is the ability to hover the screen.
The two-hinge design of the Phantom Ultimate 2 has several uses. The hinges not only allow for a thin profile but also lessen the common screen wrinkle on folding phones. Tecno sees several creative applications for the Phantom Ultimate 2. The phone, for instance, may be partially folded to resemble a laptop, with the bottom half acting as a keyboard for taking notes.
As an alternative, the phone can be set up in “tent mode,” where the two parts of the display face different ways. With live translation capabilities, this arrangement is perfect for dual-screen video chats, enabling smooth face-to-face communication.
Users of the Phantom Ultimate 2 may run three or more programs at once thanks to multi-window functionality on its large 10-inch screen. This function offers a less constrained multitasking environment, maximizing the enormous display’s potential. The Phantom Ultimate 2’s release date has not yet been revealed by Tecno, but this creative tri-fold idea provides an intriguing look at what foldable phone technology may hold in the future.
