Islamabad, June 17, 2025: Texas Super Kings made their third consecutive win in Major League Cricket 2025, while Seattle Orcas fell to their second defeat in a row. The Orcas were dismantled for just 60 runs in Oakland. Chasing a modest target of 154, the Orcas never appeared in control and were left at 21 for 5 within the first five overs, courtesy of a fiery spell from the TSK pacers. They were eventually dismissed in 13.5 overs, suffering a heavy 93-run loss.

Seattle’s openers failed to recreate the solid start from their earlier game, both departing in the space of seven deliveries. Kyle Mayers tossed a simple catch to point off Nandre Burger, while David Warner was sent back by a sharp diving grip from Faf du Plessis at cover, off left-armer Zia-ul-Haq. Steven Taylor also perished trying to take on Burger, but it was Zia’s double strike in the fifth over that broke the back of the chase.

Left-arm bowler Noor Ahmad, Chennai Super Kings’ leading wicket-taker in the recent IPL season, inflicted further damage by removing Sujit Nayak and Harmeet Singh leg-before in successive deliveries. Though he missed out on a hat-trick after bowling a full toss to Jasdeep Singh, the result was already beyond doubt. Aaron Jones top-scored with 17 before falling to Noor, who ended with figures of 3 for 18. Burger returned to clean up the tail, finishing with 3 for 10, while Zia took 3 for 16, all within the powerplay.

Earlier, Texas Super Kings chose to bat first and got a cautious start through du Plessis and Devon Conway, who added 22 runs. Du Plessis’s struggle ended when Obed McCoy got one to bounce sharply and kiss the glove, and Conway followed soon after, adjudged lbw three balls later. American batter Saiteja Mukkamalla helped lift the scoring rate with a few well-timed boundaries. Marcus Stoinis gave the innings momentum with a blistering 28 off 12 balls, including four massive sixes, pushing the total past 100.

Orcas then made their way back, removing Stoinis, Daryl Mitchell, and Calvin Savage to reduce TSK to 122 for 6. But a late flourish by Milind Kumar and Shubham Ranjane, who put on 31 runs off just 15 balls, took the score to a competitive 153—more than enough on a tricky pitch, as it turned out.
