Islamabad, June 30, 2025: A serious blunder in the Grade-11 Chemistry textbook has prompted swift action from the Punjab Education Curriculum Training & Assessment Authority (PECTAA). A photograph of Delhi’s Lal Qila (Red Fort) was mistakenly printed instead of Lahore’s historic Shahi Qila (Lahore Fort) on page 304 of the official textbook.

In response, PECTAA has constituted a three-member inquiry committee, as per Order No. N/C-2/2025/Estt dated June 28, 2025. The committee includes:

  1. Mr. Abdul Razzaq – Managing Director (Operations), PECTAA / Additional Secretary (B&F), School Education Department (Convener)
  2. Dr. Abdul Waheed – Managing Director (M&E), PECTAA (Member)
  3. Mr. Muhammad Asif Iqbal – Senior Law Officer, SED / Additional Director, PECTAA (Member)

The committee has been directed to conduct a thorough probe, determine the cause of the error, and fix responsibility. The final report must be submitted within two days, clearly naming those accountable and offering corrective recommendations.

This corrective action highlights the government’s commitment to accurate educational content and the preservation of national heritage in academic curricula.
