Islamabad, Nov 6: The Government of Japan provides grant assistance to three NGOs for development projects in Pakistan. The Government of Japan has agreed to bear grant assistance of up to 194,493 US dollars or approximately 54 million Pakistani rupees for provision of community development grant to three Pakistani NGOs.
The grants started from 6 th November, 2024/ would assist in financing programs. That would assist in raising standards of living, health and State services in the areas of Pakistan that are remote from the centres mentioned above.
Specifically, “Friends Welfare Association” and “Al Khidmat Foundation Pakistan” and “Al Mezan Islamic Model Secondary School” will be provided funding for the projects needed. Friends Welfare Association will build a new water supply system in Mansehra District with the grant of USD 59,764 and it will help approximately 6000 people with supply of safe drinking water. This effort alone will also promote healthier population and relieve women and children from the burden of water sourcing.
Al Mezan Islamic Model Secondary School will receive USD 64,528 to build a road with extra bridges across a water channel, promoting safer transportation for local residents and schoolchildren. This infrastructure improvement means beneficiating 2,540 people for improved access to schools, markets, and hospitals.
AF Pakistan would also benefit from the largest donation of USD 70,201, which will be utilise in the water filtration project in Faisalabad and Okara. In order to clean drink water for 2,870 beneficiaries. Seven structures for water filtration and purification will be set up.
Speaking during the grant signing ceremony, Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr Wada Mitsuhiro remarked that the grant signing ceremony marked historical moment for the people of Pakistan where Power and Water sectors would go a long way in enhancing people’s standard of living at peripheral level. Government of Japan has committed to sustainably support the local NGOs in Pakistan through such grant schemes such as enhancing the social and economic status of communities surrounding Pakistan.
