Three Pakistani artists who have played a vital role in preserving traditional and cultural music at the global level have been nominated for the Aga Khan Music Award 2025.

According to reports, the Aga Khan Music Award is given to those artists who promote culture and heritage internationally through their music. The nominated artists include:

Ustad Naseeruddin Saami: A renowned classical vocalist of Pakistan, known as the last living documenter of the 49-note “Surti” scale. His classical music has represented Pakistani culture around the world.

Ustad Noor Bakhsh: A well-known folk musician from Balochistan, famous for his mastery of the banjo. He has been preserving Balochi musical heritage for over fifty years through his performances.

Jumman Latif (also known as Faqeer Jumman Shah): A specialist in spiritual Sufi music from Sindh, known particularly for presenting the poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai to global audiences through his soulful voice.

It is worth noting that this award was introduced in 2018 by Prince Karim Aga Khan IV to promote cultural harmony and global awareness through music. The purpose of the Aga Khan Music Award is to honor artists who play a significant role in preserving culture and building human connections through music.
