Islamabad, June 30, 2025: TikTok buyer confirmed by Trump — but the mystery remains. Former U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed that a buyer has been lined up for the popular video-sharing app, yet he declined to name the group, describing them only as “a wealthy group of people.”
Speaking to Fox News, Trump said, “We have a buyer for TikTok. I think China will probably approve it, and President Xi will likely go along.” However, he added that full confirmation will come within two weeks.
The development comes after repeated efforts by the U.S. government to pressure ByteDance, the China-based parent company of TikTok, to sell its U.S. operations. Concerns over TikTok’s data privacy and national security risks have led to ongoing threats of a full ban, especially following Trump’s re-election and fresh executive orders earlier this year.

Despite ByteDance’s resistance to any sale, Washington has pushed hard. With over 170 million American users, TikTok’s alleged links to the Chinese government have triggered bipartisan alarm in Congress.
Trump dismissed the shifting deal deadlines, calling them “no big deal,” and offered no clarity on whether ByteDance would retain a stake in the U.S. version of the app.

China has consistently opposed the forced sale of TikTok, so the success of the new offer will depend on Beijing’s final decision. As it stands, TikTok’s fate in the U.S. still hangs in the balance.
