Islamabad, Aug 13, 2025: The New Zealand former batter, Tom Bruce, has now formally pledged his international playing days to Scotland and will be going to the Scotland team to participate in the ICC Men Cricket World Cup League 2 tournament series in Canada that is going to take place later this month.

The 34-year-old right-handed is qualified under his father who was born in Edinburgh and played 17 T20Is between 2017 and 2020 with the Black Caps. Bruce, with more than 6,200 runs at an average of 47.12 in first-class cricket (top score 345) including 2024-25 Plunket Shield best of 345.

Bruce emerged to the Scottish cricket set up in 2016 by playing in the Scotland Development XI and scored an undefeated 132 against the Durham Academy. Fully qualified, he boosts Scotland in top order in the ICC League 2 table, in which the team is squaring off against Canada and Namibia.

The Head of Performance at Cricket Scotland, Steve Snell, revealed his gratitude towards Bruce and the promises of what his small presence can offer to the player and the team. Spread over 29 August to 6 September in King City near Toronto, in the four-match series several regulars will be unavailable because of work or county obligations.

Josh Davey is the other player to make a comeback, last appearing at the 2022 T20 World Cup. The defending title holders Scotland lie third in the 8-team standings with 11 wins out of the total 20 matches played, just below Canada and Namibia, so Bruce arrival comes at a good moment.

Tom Bruce is supposed to prove to be a good one to Scotland as he introduces stability and experience to the World Cup League 2 tournament so that they can improve their ranking in the table.
