In a significant effort to support Pakistan’s fragile economy, Toyota Indus Motors (IMC) has announced plans to export 50 units of its popular models, including the Fortuner, IMV series, and Corolla Cross.
In addition to vehicle exports, IMC has achieved notable success in exporting human resources, with over 100 skilled professionals sent to Japan to work with Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC). TMC has recognized Pakistani professionals as the best in discipline, skill, and training among Asia Pacific countries. This HR export is expected to generate $2.5 million, highlighting the high value and competence of Pakistani professionals in the global automotive industry.
This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s call for local carmakers to aid economic recovery by expanding into international markets. IMC’s decision marks an important step in showcasing Pakistan’s automotive capabilities globally. The selected models, known for their reliability and performance, are expected to gain traction in new markets, paving the way for future export opportunities.
Millat Tractors and Changan Pakistan Also Contributing to Economic Recovery
Earlier this month, Millat Tractor announced plans to export 3,000 units in FY24 to countries such as Africa, Afghanistan, South America, and the Middle East. This move, revealed by economist Abdul Rehman Najam, underscores the company’s success in localization and its role in driving the country’s economic recovery.
Similarly, Changan Pakistan has made significant strides in international markets. In October 2023, Changan exported a batch of 14 Oshan X7s to Kenya and Tanzania, making it the country’s largest exporter of technologically advanced SUVs.
These initiatives from Toyota Indus Motors, Millat Tractor, and Changan Pakistan demonstrate the growing potential of Pakistan’s automotive industry on the global stage.
