The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released a Travel Advisory for Gilgit-Baltistan, urging tourists and locals to avoid unnecessary travel due to heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides that have severely affected road connectivity in the region.
According to the advisory issued via the National Emergency Operations Centre, the northern areas remain at high risk as continuous downpours and glacial activity have triggered multiple blockages. The Shyok River bridge near Saltoro has been completely obstructed, while the Astak Bridge on the Jaglot–Skardu route has sustained partial damage, allowing only one-way traffic.
Several important routes remain inaccessible, including Diamer–Ghizer Road, Shandur Road, Khalti Road, Dain Road, and Ishkoman Road. Travel within Skardu has also been disrupted, affecting access to Kargil, Kharmang, and Shigar. However, restoration teams have reopened key passages such as Surmo Bridge in Ghanche, Bagicha Road in Skardu, Gulmit–Gojal Road in Hunza, Jaglot–Gilgit Road via Guro, and Chilam Road in Astore.
