Islamabad, July 18, 2025: United States President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with “chronic venous insufficiency” after undergoing medical examination for leg inflammation and discoloration on his hands, as per the White House.

Addressing the media on Thursday, White House representative Karoline Leavitt described the condition as a “benign and common condition” where damage veins hinder normal blood circulation.

At 79, Trump is the oldest individual to have held the US presidency and had previously criticised heavily on former President Joe Biden’s age during the 2024 campaign.

On Thursday, Leavitt emphasized there was “no evidence” pointing to more critical problems such as “deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease”.

She added that all of Trump’s medical evaluations “were within normal limits” and confirmed he had “normal cardiac structure and function, no signs of heart failure, renal impairment or systemic illness”.

Leavitt also addressed queries related to the discoloration on Trump’s hands, which had sparked online theories regarding his wellbeing.

She stated the markings were “consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin, which is taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen”.

Although not mandated by law, it has become a standard tradition for American presidents to share yearly medical reports and health information.

During his 2015 run, Trump’s personal physician, Harold Bornstein, issued a note asserting he could “state unequivocally” that Trump “will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency”.

Bornstein later revealed to CNN that Trump himself had authored the exaggerated letter.
