Islamabad 10 August: U.S. President Donald Trump will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15 to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.

The summit will be their first face-to-face meeting since Trump’s return to the White House and the first such U.S.-Russia leaders’ meeting since 2021.

Trump has suggested a possible “territorial swap” as part of a ceasefire plan, though details remain unclear. The proposal has drawn criticism, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warning that Kyiv will not cede territory and that talks excluding Ukraine cannot yield a “real and genuine peace.”

Moscow has cautioned that “titanic efforts” are underway by unnamed parties to derail the meeting. The talks are expected to focus on a potential ceasefire framework, sanctions relief, and security guarantees.
