Islamabad, Mar 23, 2025: In a major shift in U.S. immigration policy, the Trump administration has introduced CBP Home, a mobile application designed to offer undocumented immigrants the option to voluntarily leave the country.
Developed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), this app allows individuals to signal their intent to depart, potentially avoiding detention or forced deportation.
A New Approach to Immigration Enforcement
This initiative follows President Trump’s recent commitment to enforcing stricter immigration measures. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem described the app as a pathway for individuals to exit the U.S. legally while preserving the possibility of future lawful reentry.
She warned, however, that those who fail to leave voluntarily will be subject to immediate deportation with no option to return.
Replacing the CBP One App
The launch of CBP Home marks a significant policy shift.
It replaces CBP One, an app introduced under the Biden administration that facilitated legal entry for migrants by allowing them to schedule appointments at border crossings.

After taking office, Trump terminated this program, leaving many hopeful entrants in uncertainty.
Now, rather than easing entry, the focus has shifted toward encouraging voluntary departure.
Increased Pressure on Undocumented Individuals
The new policy aligns with additional enforcement measures set to take effect on April 11.
Under the revised immigration framework, undocumented individuals must register with the federal government or face fines and potential jail time.
The CBP Home app serves as a digital tool supporting these efforts, making compliance more accessible while reinforcing the administration’s commitment to strict immigration enforcement.
While government officials frame the app as a humane alternative, critics argue it could act as a coercive measure rather than a voluntary solution, particularly with legal repercussions looming for those who do not comply.
As immigration policies continue to evolve, CBP Home represents a clear effort to reshape the landscape of U.S. immigration law.
