Islamabad, June 24, 2025: Türkiye has cautiously welcomed reports of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, emphasizing the critical need for both sides to fully adhere to the truce and calling for a comprehensive, lasting peace in the Middle East.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed optimism while also noting concerns about potential violations, urging full compliance during this “critical period” for regional stability.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, speaking before departing for the NATO summit, reinforced Ankara’s stance, calling for restraint and prioritizing diplomacy. He strongly condemned Israel’s “reckless actions” across the region, from Palestine to Iran, deeming them “absolutely unacceptable.”

Erdoğan stressed that the Middle East cannot bear the burden of a prolonged conflict and urged global actors to decisively pursue a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, ensure uninterrupted humanitarian aid, and give diplomacy a chance to prevent further escalation.

Türkiye reiterated that the Palestinian issue remains the root cause of instability in the Middle East, requiring urgent resolution to pave the way for broader peace efforts.

Ankara affirmed its readiness to contribute constructively to all genuine peace initiatives in the region. The Israeli Prime Minister’s office confirmed their agreement to the ceasefire, stating that “Operation Rising Lion” had achieved its objectives of neutralizing Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile threats.
