Islamabad, Sep 6: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) was visited by a team from the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy to talk about enlarging the scope of English language instruction.
The goal of the discussion with Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood was to discuss expanding the English Access Program to Pakistan’s impoverished regions.Dr. Nasir commended the initiative and reaffirmed the university’s dedication to using all of its resources to advance education in rural areas.
The delegation, which included Dr. Gerald Frank, Syed Rashid Hussain, the Country Director, and Dua Mujeeb, attended a briefing led by Dr. Nasir. Dr. Muhammad Kamal Khan, the Chairman of the English Department, gave a thorough explanation of the department’s offerings, particularly the English Access Program.
Along with focal person Dr. Amjad Khan, other faculty members that took part were Drs. Munir Khan, Saira Maqbool, Rashida, and Ubaidullah. Dr. Gerald stated that AIOU’s partnership has been more successful than any other institution’s and that he hoped to see the project grow much more.
When the RELO team visited the English Department, they expressed their gratitude for the department’s efforts and expressed appreciation for the English Access Program’s effective implementation in places like Attock, Mianwali, and Bhakkar.
