Islamabad, Aug 12, 2025: Passengers flying out of the UAE are urged to double-check what they’re packing as UAE airports banned items lists have been revised by Dubai and Sharjah authorities. The latest guidelines outline which objects are completely prohibited and which can only be carried under specific conditions — a move aimed at ensuring smooth security checks and safe travel.
Dubai Airport – Prohibited Cabin Baggage
Dubai International Airport enforces strict rules on hand luggage. Passengers are not allowed to carry:
- Sharp or heavy tools like hammers, screwdrivers, and nails
- Scissors with blades longer than 6cm
- Firearms, ammunition, swords, and handcuffs
- Laser guns, walkie-talkies, and martial arts gear
- Lighters (only one lighter is allowed per passenger)
- Bats, drills, ropes, electrical cables, and packing tapes (except small personal-use items)
Dubai Airport – Restricted Items
Some items can be carried, but only if they meet specific guidelines:
- Liquids: Each container must be 100ml or less, with a maximum of 1 litre total in a resealable bag
- Medicines: Must have a valid doctor’s prescription
- Medical devices: Passengers with metal implants must present medical proof
- Power banks: Must not exceed 100Wh; 100–160Wh may be accepted depending on the airline, but usage on board is banned
Sharjah Airport – Banned in All Luggage
Sharjah Airport applies a zero-tolerance policy for:
- Blunt weapons, baseball bats, and martial arts tools
- Flammable liquids and gases
- Hazardous chemicals, corrosives, and explosives
- Fireworks, firearms, hunting knives, and long-blade scissors
- Toxic substances, radioactive material, and tear gas
- Fake or replica weapons and straight razors
Sharjah Airport – Restricted Items
Allowed under strict security rules:
- Liquids: Maximum 100ml per container, placed in a transparent 20cm x 20cm resealable bag
- Medicines and special food: Prescription drugs and baby food must be declared and may require proof
