Islamabad, Dec 31: The UAE’s Amnesty Scheme, initiated in September 2024 to regularize undocumented expatriates, concludes today, December 31, 2024. Pakistani nationals are hopeful that the unannounced ban on visit and work visas may be lifted starting January 1, 2025.
Key Highlights:
- Initially set to end on October 31, 2024, the program was extended by two months, during which the UAE suspended visit and work visas for Pakistanis.
- Over 236,000 individuals in Dubai resolved residency issues, with 55,200 exit passes issued and numerous residency renewals completed.
Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al Marri, director of Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, lauded the scheme’s success. As the amnesty ends, Pakistani expatriates await possible policy changes that could ease visa restrictions in 2025.
