Islamabad, Dec 20: The UAE Consul General in Karachi, Dr. Bakheet Ateeq Al Rumaithi, has refuted claims that Pakistanis are being denied visas, reaffirming the UAE’s dedication to maintaining strong relations with Pakistan.
During the inauguration of Emirates World in Karachi, Dr. Al Rumaithi clarified that there are no restrictions on issuing visas to Pakistani citizens.
Earlier reports suggested visa rejections, raising concerns about potential policy changes. Speculation included claims that the UAE was restricting work visas to highly skilled workers. However, the Consul General’s statement sought to reassure the public of the UAE’s continued openness toward Pakistan.
On the economic front, Dr. Al Rumaithi revealed that negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) between the UAE and Pakistan are in their final stages.
The agreement, once finalized, is expected to enhance trade by lowering import duties on various products.
The UAE, already Pakistan’s third-largest trade partner, sees promising opportunities for further economic collaboration. Dr. Al Rumaithi also noted that UAE Ambassador Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salim Alzaab is actively engaging with Pakistan’s business community to strengthen bilateral ties.
