Ajman Police have officially banned electric scooters on all public roads in the emirate, reinforcing the importance of road safety for residents and commuters. This new measure comes after last month’s advisory, which reminded riders of e-scooters and other two-wheelers to adhere strictly to traffic laws. Authorities also warned against using modified or unauthorized electric bicycles and scooters, emphasizing legal compliance.

To educate the public, police released a video highlighting frequent violations by e-scooter riders. Common offenses include riding without protective gear, traveling against one-way traffic, entering streets from wrong directions, and improper use of pedestrian crossings. Across the UAE, police regularly issue such alerts to reduce accidents and protect road users.

In Abu Dhabi, a similar video recently went viral, showing three individuals on e-scooters riding in unsafe areas, sparking conversations about stricter enforcement and regulations. Officials reiterated that e-scooters must be restricted to designated safe zones to prevent accidents.

Residents are increasingly concerned about these hazards. Um Saeed, a Dubai Jumeirah resident, shared a frightening encounter: “An e-scooter suddenly came out from between parked cars, and I barely managed to avoid it.” Her experience reflects growing public worry over scooter-related safety risks.

Dubai has responded by creating a dedicated enforcement unit in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police. This team monitors e-scooter and cyclist violations, aiming to strengthen safety measures across the city.
