Islamabad, 13 May, 2025: The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Duties and Port Security (ICP) has started accepting applications from qualified individuals currently outside the country for a Half-Year Entry Visa Scheme (180-day) multiple-entry visa.
This inventiveness is planned of Half-Year Entry Visa Scheme to help applicants complete the required processes to obtain the UAE’s new long-term Blue Residency Visa.

Blue Residency Visa in UAE
The Blue Residency is a 10-year residency permit introduced for individuals who have made outstanding offerings to environmental protection, sustainability, and clean or renewable energy, whether within the UAE or internationally.
It builds on the UAE’s broader vision of encouraging sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
Who Can Apply?
The Blue Residency is open to the following categories:
- Influential Environmental Figures: Individuals who have made notable contributions and have had a significant impact in environmental and sustainability-related fields, including climate change and renewable energy.
- Scientists and Researchers: Experts recognized for their global successes in relevant fields. Nominations must be approved by the UAE Scientists Council.
- Investors and Entrepreneurs: Business leaders operating in areas linked to sustainability and green technologies.
- Environmental Specialists: Professionals working in environmental roles within UAE-based government or private organizations.
Application Process
Eligible candidates can apply through the ICP’s website or mobile application by following these four steps:
- Fill in personal and supporting information and upload the necessary documents
- Pay the applicable service fees
- Submit the completed application
- Receive a confirmation via email
The process takes around seven minutes to complete online. If all requirements are met, the application is typically processed within one working day.
Documents Required
Applicants will need to provide:
- A valid passport (with at least six months’ validity)
- A recent color passport-sized photo
- Supporting documents proving eligibility for the Blue Residency

The Blue Residency complements the UAE’s existing Golden and Green Visa programs and reflects the nation’s commitment to global sustainability goals.

Background and First Phase Implementation
The launch follows the announcement made during the World Government Conference in February, where the first group of 20 pioneers in sustainability was awarded the Blue Residency.
This included modernizers and leaders from environmental and climate-focused sectors.
