Islamabad, Oct 25: UAE Reduces Minimum Age Requirement for Driving License. A new federal decree on traffic laws was issued by the UAE government, and it will go into force on March 29, 2025.
The minimum age for obtaining a driver’s license will be lowered from 18 to 17 under the new law. In addition, excessively noisy vehicles will not be allowed, and using a car horn in a city will be limited to situations where it is necessary for safety.
Additionally, pedestrians are prohibited from crossing roads with speed restrictions above 80 km/h, and those who do so may face civil or criminal penalties. Authorities also emphasized “deterrent penalties” for infractions like driving while intoxicated, hit-and-run instances, jaywalking, and driving in flooded valleys that have the potential to result in major accidents.
It is now necessary to obtain a permit from the appropriate government in order to transport hazardous materials or unusual loads. By outlining standards for inspection, registration, licensing, and renewal procedures as well as procedures for testing new automotive technology, the revisions address the growing use of electric and self-driving vehicles and are intended to bring them into line with global transportation advancements.
