The UAE and four other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have been named among the safest countries in the world to walk alone at night, according to the latest Global Safety Report by Gallup. The global survey ranked Singapore as the world’s safest country where people feel secure walking alone at night, followed by others.
The UAE and other GCC countries have secured a higher ranking than several European and Western countries, including Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Germany, UK and the US.
Julie Ray, managing editor for World News at Gallup said, safety in the Gulf region is not only linked to low crime rates but also to centralized governance, strong law enforcement and heavy investment in infrastructure.
