The break schedules vary by institution, with some schools granting a full week off from Monday, February 10, to Friday, February 14. This provides students with a well-rounded nine-day holiday, including the weekends. Others have opted for shorter breaks, spanning three days from Wednesday, February 12, to Friday, February 14.
A handful of schools have decided on a two-day break on Thursday, February 13, and Friday, February 14. With the weekend included, students at these institutions will enjoy a four-day respite before returning to classes on Monday, February 17.

As the calendar progresses, schools are also preparing for Ramadan, expected to commence on March 1, depending on the moon sighting. During this holy month, institutions will adjust to shorter school hours, ensuring the curriculum remains on track while accommodating the spiritual and cultural needs of the community.
Educational leaders emphasize the importance of these breaks in fostering student well-being and maintaining academic excellence. Lisa Johnson, principal of the American Academy for Girls, highlighted the significance of short breaks: “We understand the necessity for students and families to have time to relax and rejuvenate. Studies confirm that well-timed breaks enhance focus, reduce stress, and contribute to a more balanced learning environment.”
Despite these flexible schedules, schools are committed to meeting the minimum requirement of 182 instructional days for international curricula, ensuring academic standards remain uncompromised.
With varied break lengths and thoughtful adjustments for Ramadan, UAE schools demonstrate a balanced approach to education, prioritizing both academic goals and student well-being. Parents and students alike are eager to make the most of these refreshing pauses in the academic calendar.
