Islamabad, Nov 1: The UAE visa amnesty program, which was originally scheduled to end on December 31, 2024, has been extended by two months, according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP).
With officials waiving millions of dollars in fines for overstayers, the UAE Visa Amnesty program, which was first introduced on September 1 and is set to expire on October 31, has allowed thousands of people to regularize their visa status.
This extension, which highlights the UAE’s humanitarian and civilized ideals, takes place in conjunction with the 53rd Union Day celebrations.
The decision, according to ICP Director General Maj-Gen Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, demonstrates the UAE’s dedication to helping people who want to establish their residency status.
The extension, he said, offers “the last chance for violators to regularize their status without incurring fines or facing re-entry bans.”
Al Khaili urged violators to take advantage of this extended period, noting a notable surge in applications as the initial deadline drew near.
However, he issued a warning that individuals who continue to overstay past the new deadline would face the reinstatement of fines.
Additionally, he emphasized ICP’s intention to step up inspections of violators after the deadline.
Since 2007, the UAE has four amnesty programs, the most recent of which was extended in 2018 to enable more citizens to regularize their status.
In the UAE, overstayers can apply for amnesty online, at authorized typing centers, or at ICP centers.
