The University of engineering and technology (UET) has introduced state of art computer labs in its Electrical Engineering Department, to improve student education and digital knowledge. Newly instated facilities comprise of 100 high-performance computers, 14 modern air conditioners, which would have been impossible without the support of the generous alumni. The Dean, department heads, faculty members and industry partners attended the event.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir praised the alumni on the contributions they made to their alma mater and the need to give back to their alma mater. He stressed that UET is dedicated to delivering state of the art labs, contemporary class rooms, up to date hostel facilities and vibrant campus life to promote innovation and professional development.

The air-conditioned lab was done at a cumulative cost of Rs20 million, with a contribution of Rs7 million in the initial phase and 13 million in the second phase by the alumni. The air conditioners were provided by 14 of the private companies and the computers were donated by three corporate bodies. As well, alumnus Riffat Ijaz Noor supplied four biometric attendance systems. Recently, in recognition of the Vice Chancellor’s role in the Punjab government, the government sought to know about successful policies and strategies at UET.

Prof. Dr. Munir attributed this achievement to the cooperation of staff, hard work, and planning, strengthening the image of the UET as one of the best engineering schools. These advanced facilities help UET to empower students, attract the best talent, renew industry associations, and enhance partnerships.
