Islamabad, Oct 23: UN Applauds India-China Agreement on Border Patrols. In the hopes of bolstering the process of good neighborly relations between the two nations, the UN on Tuesday praised a border patrol agreement between China and India.
In answer to a question during the daily lunchtime briefing at UN Headquarters in New York, UN Deputy Spokesman Farhan Aziz Haq stated, “We certainly welcome any positive engagement between the nations of China and India, and we hope that the process of good neighborly relations will be strengthened.”
In an effort to put an end to the four-year border dispute that resulted in a fatal battle, China and India agreed on Monday to monitor the nearly 3,500-kilometer Line of Actual Control.
“An agreement has been reached on patrolling arrangements along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the India-China border areas, leading to disengagement and a resolution of the issues that had arisen in these areas in 2020,” India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri reportedly stated, according to media reports.
Lin Jian, a spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry, confirmed the deal, “which China views favorably.” “Those resolutions will be implemented going forward by the Chinese and Indian sides,” he continued.
