Islamabad, Nov 29: The Prime Minister’s Inter-University Sports Olympiad was recently held in Islamabad, featuring athletes from 170 universities across Pakistan. The University of Karachi (KU) made a significant impact at the event, excelling in various sports, including athletics, youth hockey, volleyball, and swimming.
Notable Performances:
- Natasha Hasan was the standout athlete for KU, winning two gold medals in the 5000m and 10,000m races, setting new records in both events: 21:12.53 seconds in the 5000m and 44:53.00 seconds in the 10,000m.
- Qandeel Sultan earned a bronze medal in the 5000m race, further adding to KU’s medal tally.
- The KU relay team, consisting of Natasha Hasan, Qandeel Sultan, Nida Shah, and Bushra Zaman, secured a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay.
KU’s participation in other events, such as girls’ hockey, boys’ volleyball, and swimming, reflected the university’s commitment to fostering a well-rounded sports program. The university’s athletic team was managed by Syed Gohar Raza, with Sylveistain Dean and Shahbaz Ahmed serving as coaches.
