Islamabad, June 29, 2025: The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) has issued a red alert for urban flooding in Pakistan as heavy rainfall is expected in the next 48 hours. Key regions at risk include major cities in Sindh and Punjab.
According to the NEOC, southern Sindh districts—Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, and Mirpurkhas—face a high threat of waterlogging and flooding due to intense monsoon showers.
In Punjab, low-lying areas in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Gujrat are also on alert. These areas may experience severe urban flooding if rainfall continues as forecasted.
Authorities have been instructed to activate emergency response teams, clear drainage systems, and issue timely updates. Citizens are urged to avoid travel, stay indoors during downpours, and follow local alerts.
This warning comes as monsoon rains intensify in Pakistan, raising concerns over public safety and urban infrastructure damage. The government stresses preparedness to reduce risk to life and property.
