Islamabad, June 20, 2025: French President Emmanuel Macron announced today that European powers, including France, are set to present Iran with a comprehensive ‘diplomatic solution’ aimed at de-escalating the ongoing conflict with Israel. This offer comes amid rising tensions in the region.
Macron told reporters at the Paris Air Show that French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot would meet his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, in Geneva later today.
The purpose of this meeting is “to make a complete diplomatic and technical offer for negotiations,” Macron stated, emphasizing that France, along with allies Germany and the UK, are “putting a diplomatic solution on the table.”

President Macron urged Iran to “show that it is willing to join the platform for negotiations we are putting on the table.” He stressed the importance of returning to meaningful talks with Iran. These negotiations, he added, must cover critical issues, including:
- Nuclear Program: Moving towards “zero enrichment” of uranium by Iran.
- Ballistics: Limiting Iran’s missile capabilities.
- Terrorist Financing: Stopping the funding of groups that destabilize the region.
Macron underscored the serious risks involved, insisting that “no one should neglect the risk that an Iran with nuclear weapons would present.” He maintained that an Iran with nuclear weapons would pose an “existential risk” for Israel
