ISLAMABAD – June 22, 2025: The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a high-alert bulletin warning of increased threats from Iran-linked individuals, including potential cyber and physical attacks. The bulletin, released as part of the National Terrorism Advisory System, reflects growing concerns amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.
According to the DHS, the ongoing conflict involving Iran is creating a heightened threat environment across the U.S. Intelligence assessments indicate that pro-Iranian hacktivists are likely to launch low-level cyber attacks on American networks. Moreover, cyber actors affiliated with the Iranian government may also attempt more serious intrusions targeting key U.S. infrastructure and government systems.

The alert also highlights Iran’s long-standing intent to retaliate against U.S. government officials it deems responsible for the death of an Iranian military commander in January 2020. This could result in both cyber and physical actions aimed at specific individuals or agencies.
Authorities warn that the potential for violent extremist activity within the United States may grow if Iran’s leadership issues religious rulings or statements encouraging retaliatory violence. Such calls could prompt individuals to act independently, targeting people or places in the U.S.
Furthermore, the DHS notes that several recent terrorist attacks on U.S. soil were motivated by anti-Semitic and anti-Israel sentiments. The current Israel-Iran tensions may fuel similar motivations, increasing the risk of additional domestic plots by U.S.-based individuals.
Citizens are urged to remain vigilant, report any suspicious behavior, and stay informed through official DHS communications. Law enforcement agencies across the country have been advised to heighten security protocols in response to the advisory.
