Islamabad, May 20, 2025: n a bold move to combat illegal immigration, the United States has imposed visa restrictions on several individuals tied to India-based travel agencies allegedly involved in human smuggling.
The U.S. State Department confirmed the sanctions, marking a significant escalation in efforts to deter visa fraud and unlawful entry into the country.
The U.S. government has initiated visa restrictions against individuals linked to certain Indian travel agencies accused of facilitating unauthorized migration into the United States.
This step, announced on Monday by the U.S. State Department, targets those believed to have played a direct role in aiding illegal border crossings.
Spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated that an unspecified number of people connected to these agencies are being penalized under provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
The visa sanctions are the result of intelligence gathered by the U.S. diplomatic mission in India. As per standard protocol, the identities of those facing restrictions have not been disclosed.
“We are committed to using visa bans to hold accountable agency owners, top-level managers, and others engaged in human trafficking operations,” Bruce said. She refrained from sharing exact details about how these travel networks operate or facilitate unlawful entry into the U.S.

The visa ban on Indian travel agents follows similar actions taken against smugglers and intermediaries in other countries and signals Washington’s zero-tolerance stance on immigration fraud.
Experts believe such actions will pressure travel and visa consultancy firms to act more responsibly and transparently.
