Pakistan left-arm fast bowler Usman Shinwari has announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 31. He represented Pakistan in one Test, 17 ODIs and 16 T20Is between 2013 and 2019.

Shinwari career was marked by promise but cut short by recurring back injuries. He made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka in Dubai in December 2013 but bowled only one over, giving away nine runs.

After a few T20Is, he moved into the ODI side in 2017, again facing Sri Lanka in Sharjah. His only Test appearance also came against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi in December 2019 which turned out to be his last outing for Pakistan.

Shinwari showed his best form in ODIs where he claimed two five-wicket hauls. His second match in October 2017 was a standout when he ripped through Sri Lanka batting lineup with figures of 5 for 34, taking all five wickets in just 21 balls. His other five-wicket spell came in Karachi in September 2019, also against Sri Lanka.

The pacer first came into the spotlight in 2013 during the Departmental T20 Cup final. Playing for Zarai Taraqiati Bank, he stunned Misbah-ul-Haq SNGPL side with 5 for 9 in 3.1 overs, a performance that earned him a quick call-up to the national team. However, he struggled to match his domestic dominance at the international level.

Recently, he played in the National T20 Cup for Quetta Region but failed to take a wicket in four matches.
