Islamabad, Jan 6: The two nations have been actively strengthening their relationship, exemplified by a $1 billion trade agreement signed in 2023. A collaborative industrial roadmap further emphasizes their mutual dedication to enhancing regional connectivity.
During his visit to Karachi from January 2–4, Ambassador Tukhtaev engaged with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), and local business leaders. Additionally, Uzbekistan eased travel restrictions by implementing a soft visa policy for Pakistanis in September 2023 and launching direct flights between Tashkent and Lahore. These measures have significantly increased tourism and business exchanges between the two countries.
Tukhtaev highlighted the growth in bilateral trade, which has tripled since 2019, reaching $387 million in 2023. He also announced plans for a “Made in Uzbekistan” industrial exhibition in Karachi to further promote economic ties. The ambassador encouraged Pakistani businesses to explore opportunities in Uzbekistan’s rapidly developing regions, offering full support for facilitating partnerships through both government and business meetings.
