Islamabad, 27 March 2025: A striking resemblance between cricket icon Virat Kohli and a Turkish actor has recently gone viral on social media, catching the attention of fans around the world.
The comparison was first drawn by a Reddit user who posted a picture of the Turkish actor from the popular historical series Ertugrul, known for its global fanbase, including in India.
The user humorously captioned the image as “Anushka Sharma’s husband TV show debut,” referencing Kohli’s wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma.

The resemblance quickly became the talk of the internet, with many fans confessing that they initially mistook the actor for the Indian cricketer.
One Reddit user shared, “I couldn’t believe my eyes when I first saw Dogan Bey in Ertugrul—I thought it was Kohli appearing in a Turkish series! The likeness is uncanny.”
Another fan joked, “I thought Kohli had secretly become an actor!” The fun continued with a playful comment about nepotism, saying, “Nepotism has gone too far!”
This incident follows a similar viral moment a few years ago when Anushka Sharma herself acknowledged her striking resemblance to American singer Julia Michaels, which also created a social media buzz.

Ertugrul, which aired from 2014 to 2019, has earned massive popularity worldwide for its compelling plot and high production values.
It is no wonder that even a Kohli lookalike in one of its characters would spark such a massive reaction from fans across social platforms.
The show’s intense following and its crossover appeal have made it a subject of conversation in unexpected ways, leaving fans amused by the unintentional link between cricket and Turkish television.
It is pertinent to mention here that the legendary batter is currently representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the ongoing IPL.
