Islamabad, Mar 21, 2025: The Shawwal crescent is anticipated to be visible on the evening of March 30, 2025, marking the beginning of Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), astronomical calculations indicate that the new moon will be born at 3:58 PM PST on March 29, making its sighting highly probable the next evening.
Experts from the Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) have also suggested that Eid-ul-Fitr will most likely fall on March 31, 2025.
However, weather conditions might affect visibility in some areas, with forecasts predicting partly cloudy skies in certain regions.
To officially confirm the date, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold a meeting on March 30, alongside provincial and district-level moon sighting committees.

In preparation for the festive occasion, the government has declared March 31 to April 2, 2025, as public holidays for Eid celebrations, as per an official notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat.
