Islamabad, July 20, 2025: Authorities have issued a fresh monsoon alert for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and surrounding Potohar districts as a heavy rainfall spell is expected to begin on July 21. The alert includes Jhelum, Attock, and Chakwal, where preparations have been intensified to manage possible flash flooding and urban drainage emergencies.
A dedicated Flood-Rain Emergency Control Room has been set up at the office of the Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, tasked with real-time monitoring of rainwater drains and emergency response across six districts.
Commissioner Rawalpindi confirmed that immediate response units would be dispatched to critical locations in case of flooding. Citizens are advised to remain cautious and follow official instructions throughout the rainfall period.
Rescue 1122 on High Alert Across the Twin Cities
In anticipation of the rain spell, Rescue 1122 has declared a high alert in both Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Special response teams have already been deployed to vulnerable areas including Soan River, with boats and essential equipment on standby to assist in any flood-related emergency.
District Emergency Officer Sibghatullah announced that Section 144 has been imposed across Rawalpindi to prevent public access to nullahs and riverbanks during the downpour. “People must avoid throwing garbage or construction debris into rain drains, as it increases blockage risk,” he warned.
